Pahami EPrT: Tes Kemampuan Bahasa Inggris milik Telkom University
Apa itu EPrT®?
EPrT®, atau English Proficiency Test, adalah alat penilaian yang dirancang untuk mengukur kecakapan berbahasa Inggris seseorang. Dikembangkan oleh Telkom University Language Center, tes ini mencakup tiga aspek utama, yaitu Listening Competence (Short Dialogue 30 soal, Long Dialogue 10 soal, Monologue 10 soal), Grammar Competence (Fill in the Blank 15 soal, Find the Error 25 soal), dan Reading Competence (50 soal). Setiap bagian soal memiliki berbagai level kesulitan, yaitu mudah (easy), sedang (medium), sulit (difficult) dan sangat sulit (advanced).
Kegunaan EPrT®
Berdasarkan Pedoman Akademik Universitas Telkom Nomor: PU/025/AKD1/AKD-BAA/2022 Pasal 41, EPrT® merupakan salah satu syarat kenaikan tingkat dan juga syarat untuk mendaftar sidang akhir, dengan minimum skor EPrT® ≥ 450 untuk syarat sidang. Mempunyai sertifikat EPrT® yang valid adalah langkah krusial dalam memenuhi persyaratan akademis. Tidak hanya bagi mahasiswa Telkom University, tes EPrT® juga dapat diikuti oleh peserta umum (selain sivitas Telkom University) dalam mengukur kemampuan berbahasa Inggris.
Skor, Durasi, dan Masa Berlaku EPrT®
Rentang skor EPrT® berkisar antara 310 hingga 677. Tes ini memiliki durasi pelaksanaan sekitar ± 2.5 jam. Perlu diketahui, sertifikat EPrT® memiliki masa berlaku selama 2 tahun, memastikan bahwa kemampuan berbahasa Inggris yang dinilai tetap relevan dalam kurun waktu yang wajar.

Pada bagian ini, biasanya per satu bagian (passage) terdiri dari beberapa pertanyaan seperti main idea question, stated detail question, unstated detail question, dan lain-lain. Berikut salah satu contoh soalnya:
Passage:
Like mammals, birds claim their own territories. A bird’s territory may be small or large. Some birds claim only their nest and the area right around it, while others claim far larger territories that include their feeding areas. Gulls, penguins, and other waterfowl nest in huge colonies, but even in the biggest colonies, each male and his mate have small territories of their own immediately around their nests. Male birds defend their territory chiefly against other males of the same species. In some cases, a warning call or threatening pose may be all the defense needed, but in other cases, intruders may refuse to leave peacefully.
