English Synergy Program (ESyP)

ESyP aims at improving English language skills for first-year international class students. This program is held regularly every semester.

Through ESyP, international class students are expected to be better prepared to take part in study activities and also participate in international activities.

Please note that lectures in international classes are carried out using English as the language of instruction. In addition, international class students are required to take part in international exposure programs such as student exchange or double degrees.

ESyP (English Synergy Program) is a mentoring program to help improve the English skills of the international class freshmen (1st year).

 

Here’s a timeline of ESyP Academic Year 2024/2025 that you need to know.

1. EPrT (English Proficiency Test)

Test period: September 23 – 27, 2024
You need to take this test to find out your level of English proficiency.
This test is also one of the requirements to register for ESyP courses.
Those of you who already have an EPrT score may take take this test in case you want to update your score.

2. ECCT (English Communicative Competence Test)

Test period: September 30 – October 4, 2024
This test measures speaking ability in English. This test is mandatory for all new international class students class of 2024/2025.

3. ESyP Registration

Registration period: September 30 – October 4, 2024
Register yourself in the program you want to take based on your EPrT or ECCT score.

ESyP Programs:
1. EPrT Preparation (English Proficiency Test)
EPrT Preparation is a course designed for those who want to prepare for EPrT by improving their English skills based on the test that includes listening, grammar, and reading.

Number of meetings: 20 meetings
Requirement: EPrT/TOEFL ITP: < 475 or IELTS < 4,5

 

2. English Speaking Series (Presenting Data in English & Discussion in English)
This course is designed for participants who want to hone their presentation skill in terms of presenting data (graphs and charts) and discussing in English.

Number of meetings: 14 meetings
Requirement: EPrT/TOEFL ITP: ≥ 475-497 or IELTS ≥ 5

 

3. English Writing Series 1 (Writing Descriptive & Argumentative Essay 1)
This course is designed for students who want to improve their ability to write academic texts. The program offers several types of writing.

Number of meetings: 14 meetings
Requirement: EPrT/TOEFL ITP: ≥ 500 or IELTS ≥ 5.5

 

4. BIPA Basic (Indonesian as a Foreign Language) Level 1
Bahasa Indonesia bagi Penutur Asing (BIPA) or Indonesian as a foreign language is a program to help you learn Indonesian in real contexts and situations while expanding your vocabulary and language skills at the same time. This class is designed for foreign students or Non-Indonesian speakers who want to focus on learning Indonesian for daily communication.

Number of meetings: 20 meetings

Course Description

​​​​​​​Do you want to master Indonesian to communicate with Indonesians? or you want to continue your study in Indonesia? This is the right program for you to study Indonesian. BIP​​​​​​​A Telkom University provides Indonesian as a Foreign Language Program which will help you learn Indonesian in real contexts and situations through the assignments giving you experience to speak and interact with Indonesians while expanding your vocabulary and language skills at the same time. This program will also give you the opportunity to explore more about the Indonesian culture, culinary and tourist interaction, while building your vocabulary and improving your language skills to achieve your goals.

 

Programs & Learning Outcome

​​​​​​​There are three programs of BIPA Telkom University courses:

1. Regular Program

Regular BIPA Program is designed to help participants learn to communicate in Indonesian in formal and informal situations and contexts.

2. Private Program

Private BIPA Program is one to one (one student, one teacher) for students who want to have a more personalized instructional content and more flexible schedule and settings.

3. Cooperation BIPA Program

Cooperation BIPA Program is based on cooperation between Telkom University and particular institutions such as government and other institutions.

By the end of this program, you will be able to:

  1. use Indonesian in a written form and orally in formal and informal situations and contexts,
  2. interact and confidently use Indonesian with Indonesian people and language learners,
  3. recognize and introduce the variety of tourism, culture and culinary of Indonesia.

Academic Indonesian 3 Upon completing this level, participants are expected to be able to:
1. understand an oral explanatory text for 5 minutes and a written text of 500-700 words that are informative and factual with complex sentences (Interpretive)
2. express ideas and opinions in clear, structured, systematic, and detailed language spontaneously and fluently according to speech situations for social purposes in simple scientific fields (scientific work), (Interpersonal)
3. use data and facts to compose arguments coherently through simple scientific papers of 3000 – 5000 words and presentations of papers. (Presentational)

Course Fee

There are two types of BIPA class you can choose based on your preferences. It can be a regular or a private class. The minimum number of participants for regular class is five students, and for private class is one student. Besides that, you can also choose the mode of your class: online or offline.
